Overseas Pinoys expect blockbuster lines for Jollibee London opening
Wherever there are Pinoys, there will always be Jollibee, or at least a craving for Jollibee. We can’t help it. Its part of our DNA to long for Chicken Joy and Jolli Spaghetti wherever we are.
Pinoys in London recently received good news that the Filipino fastfood giant will soon be setting up shop in London and it naturally became a hot topic on reddit.
Most of the people on the thread were obviously excited over Jollibee’s arrival while there were those who are already anticipating the long lines on opening day. Some shared their own experiences about Jollibees opening abroad.
“First Jollibee in Canada opened in my city almost 2 years ago. It was crazy! I think people lined up as early as 4pm the day before the opening date. It was in the middle of Winter too! It was -40 for days,” redditor mcalva recalled.
“Hello fellow Winnipegger. I don’t live there anymore but I used to work near Jollibee. Almost weekly ako naglulunch don. I kept coming back because you get free a sundae/peach mango pie on your next visit if you took part in the survey printed in their receipt,” user Alexy replied.
An OFW in Hong Kong recalled his experience when Jollibee Hong Kong in Central Station opened. Since it opened its doors, it has become a famous landmark for Filipinos who are visiting HK, especially on Sundays when Pinoys gather for their weekly reunions.
“I remember the first time I got stationed in HK. I saw the Jollibee in Central and said “lol why would I ever buy Chickenjoy at 2.5x the Philippine price. Every Sunday I’d pass by the place. As my homesickness grew, the 2.5x pricetag seemed to get cheaper and cheaper and the joke about the price less and less funny. Finally on the sixth month, I just gave in. Ordered 2 pieces of Chicken joy and extra rice. Best chicken joy meal I’ve ever eaten. The business model is real guys,” redditor redkiko shared.
With this much anticipation, we’re pretty sure we can visualize how opening day will turn out.
