Price of agriculture commodities still on the rise
Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said that the price of selected agriculture commodities picked up in some regional centers during the fourth week of August.
For instance, it said that a price increase of P4 per kilogram of rice was noted in the National Capital Region (NCR).
Price hikes in premium rice, well milled rice and regular milled rice ranging from P1 to P3 per kilogram were also registered in 10 regional centers.
Prevailing retail price of meat and poultry items, on the other hand, remain unchanged in most of the regions but a P10 per kilogram price mark-up of beef with bones was observed in Cagayan de Oro City. Similarly, dressed chicken rose by P5 per kilogram in the area.
In NCR, the price of pork liempo went down by P5 per kilogram. For dressed chicken, the price also dropped by P10 per kilogram during the week.
Varying price adjustments in selected fish species are also noticed, with prices of galunggong going up by P10 and P20 per kilogram in seven regional centers, while a P10 per kilogram price decrease of tilapia was observed in four regional centers.
As for vegetables, price mark-ups of P10 and P30 per kilogram for ampalaya were correspondingly registered in Cabanatuan City and Baguio City.
Meanwhile, price reductions of P5 to P20 per kilogram were posted in six regional centers.
Prices of carrots increased from P5 to P30 per kilogram in five regional centers and the price for eggplant declined from P10 to P30 per kilogram in four regional centers.
A kilogram of native pechay was likewise priced higher by P20 in Baguio.
