The fast- food chain in US that earns better than Mcdonald’s and Starbucks
There’s a fast-food chain in the United States that earn better than McDonald’s and Starbucks and there could be one reason behind it. It’s closed on Sundays.
A Business Insider report showed that Chick-fil-A makes more per restaurant than McDonald’s, Starbucks, and Subway combined.
“Chik-fil-A ranked so highly in total US sales because it earns more per store than any other restaurant. The average unit made around $4.01 million in 2017,” the report said.
Combined, the total sales per unit for McDonald’s ($2,670,320), Starbucks ($945,270) and Subway ($416,860) is $4.03 million.
As of now, Chik-fil-A only operates 2,225 restaurants, less than a sixth as the top three earning restaurants.
The report said this could be because Chick-fil-A is closed on Sundays.
“Most people would assume that closing one day per week could hurt company profits. However, it’s clear by the per-unit sales numbers that something about Chick-fil-A makes it more attractive than its competitors. Could it be that closing its doors one day a week actually helps Chick-fil-A make more money, not less?” the report said.
“Closing creates a craving. It’s like the old saying: ‘You never know what you have until it’s gone,’ and sometimes, when you want Chick-fil-A on a Sunday and can’t have it, it only makes you more likely to get it on Monday,” it added.
This fact, according to the report, also helps attract better employees since they get to have a day’s rest.
