Chef Ellie Tiglao brings more attention to Pinoy food with Boston pop-up dinners
Filipino chefs are doing well abroad and for good reason. They go out of their way to promote Filipino food and culture that is driven by passion and determination and foodies all around the world are responding to this.
Fil-Am chef and neuroscientist is bringing Pinoy food to the center stage in Boston, starting with pop up dinners and finally establishing her own restaurant in Boston.
Ellie said that while she didn’t have formal training, her pop up diners became so popular especially among the Filipino community, and she was really surprised to see so many young people who wanted to try her food.
Since 2014, she has hosted over 100 pop up dinners and the success of these events gave birth to Tanam, her restaurant which is thriving well among regulars and foodies who want to try something new. Its definitely a place to connect and bond with people, much like a Filipino family would. (ANGEL ONG)
