DA to open biggest TienDA this weekend
Agriculture Secretary Emmanuel Piñol said the Department of Agriculture (DA) will partner with the local government of Taguig City in staging the biggest TienDA Malasakit Store Farmers and Fishermen’s Outlet on Saturday.
He said that at least 30 farmers and fishermen’s organizations will sell their produce at farm gate prices, including tuna and other species from General Santos City.
During the weekend market, the National Food Authority (NFA) will allocate 1,000 bags of rice to be sold at P27 per kilo while farmers groups from Central Luzon will offer well-milled local rice at P39 per kilo.
“White shrimps farmers from all over the country will also sell Vannamei, while tilapia farmers from Central Luzon and Bangus from Pangasinan will also be available. Fruits and vegetables from Mindanao will be flown in by a private Boeing 727 Cargo plane. Tomato farmers from Kalayaan, Laguna whose unsold tomatoes went viral on social media recently will bring 5 tons of tomatoes,” Piñol said.
The Taguig City TienDA Malasakit Store will be held at the Taguig Lakeshore Hall in Lower Bicutan.
