SeedWorks showcases resilient hybrid varieties
SeedWorks Philippines highlighted its resilient hybrid varieties at annual National Rice Technology Forum (NRTF) that was recently held at Talibon, Bohol.
Led by the Department of Agriculture (DA), NRTF tackled agriculture and food security while highlighting the different rice varieties of the various seed companies.
The NRTF’s theme this year is “Increased Rice Production through Hybrid Technology”.
Compared to traditional inbred seeds, hybrid varieties yield 1 metric per ton per hectare.
During the event, SeedWorks featured its famous brown rice to the participants led by their celebrity Chef “Boy” Logro.
The company also encouraged the farmers to plant hybrid rice because of its several benefits like higher yield, more stress resilient, higher disease resistance, among others.
“With these factors and with the use of hybrid rice varieties in farming like the popular US-88 from SeedWorks Philippines, it would rationally be easier for the country to finally attain rice self-sufficiency and be healthier in no time. US-88 rice variety brings greater yields with premium long and soft grain ideal to be used for brown rice,” the company said.
