Taiwan rewards citizens with transportation credit for recyclable deposits
Taiwan is taking its recycling game to a whole new level by providing instant incentives to citizens who deposit their recyclables to vending machines that provide them credits on their transportation cards.
This system is working out very well as citizens are encouraged to simply bring their recyclables to these bins as compared to hauling them to the garbage truck for weekly collection.
One pound of trash is equivalent to a dime loaded on the transportation card so now there’s an extra reason for people to actively sort through their garbage and deposit their waste for proper waste management. (ANGEL ONG)
